Bronchial Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma
Imaging findings
Chest radiograph shows complete opacification of the right hemithorax. CT shows a highly vascular, intensely enhancing endobronchial mass encroaching on the right upper lobe bronchus, with distal collapse. Biopsy confirmed mucoepidermoid carcinoma.
Key takeaways
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is a rare salivary gland-type tumor of the bronchus that can occur in children/adolescents. It can be highly vascular and enhance intensely on CT, closely mimicking bronchial carcinoid.
