Imaging findings
A younger man with biopsy-proven systemic amyloidosis (renal, skin, and elsewhere) has a thickened left ventricle with circumferential myocardial hypoattenuation giving a stiff-heart amyloid appearance on CT. In addition, there is extensive abnormal soft tissue surrounding the left atrium, beyond the usual atrial wall enhancement described in amyloid.
