Primary pulmonary marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of MALT with cystic change
Imaging findings
Serial chest CT scans over four years show progressive enlargement of bilateral, focal consolidative opacities in the upper lobes containing patent, dilated airways (bronchiectasis) and large, developing internal cystic spaces, associated with an FDG-avid gastric wall mass. Biopsy of both sites confirmed marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of MALT.
Key takeaways
Primary pulmonary marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of MALT can demonstrate slowly progressive, airway-centered consolidations that develop prominent internal bronchiectasis and cystic changes over time. Cyst formation is related to local protein deposition and inflammatory matrix degradation.
