Imaging findings
Initial radiographs and a CT from 2008 showed findings typical of interstitial lung fibrosis, with reticular opacities, basal predominance, and foci of traction bronchiolectasis. Interestingly, within some regions, there were subtle calcifications. A follow-up current exam showed that the fibrosis had progressed, with more traction bronchiectasis and bronchiolectasis, and a marked concurrent progression of dendriform ossifications, which were pretty extensive in the lungs.
Key takeaways
This is a dramatic example of progressive interstitial lung fibrosis with markedly progressed dendriform type ossifications. While fibrosis is common, this is a striking illustration of progressive dendriform ossifications associated with it.
