Lymphocytic Interstitial Pneumonia and Follicular Bronchiolitis with B-Cell Lymphoma
Imaging findings
Chest CT demonstrates a background of diffuse cystic lung disease and follicular bronchiolitis, alongside a newly developed anterior mediastinal mass and a solid right lower lobe pulmonary mass. Biopsy of both the mediastinal and pulmonary masses confirmed B-cell lymphoma. An incidental aborted tracheal bronchus is also present.
Key takeaways
Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia (LIP) and follicular bronchiolitis are benign lymphoproliferative pulmonary disorders often associated with autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren's syndrome. There is a well-recognized association and potential progression of these benign clonal/lymphoid infiltrates into low-grade B-cell lymphomas, such as marginal zone/MALT lymphoma.
