Imaging findings
Chest radiograph shows lobulated soft tissue abnormalities behind the heart. Earlier CT (from a few months prior) shows these as fatty masses. Even older CT (from years prior) shows much larger soft tissue attenuation masses of extramedullary hematopoiesis along the spine, with dilated bones. Following radiation and transfusion therapy, these masses have significantly regressed and undergone fatty replacement.
