Recanalized Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation
Imaging findings
CT angiography shows a large, solitary right-sided pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (AVM) with a single feeding artery and single draining vein. An Amplatzer vascular plug is in place, but follow-up CTA shows persistent flow (leak) around the plug into the AVM cavity.
Key takeaways
Pulmonary AVMs are treated with transcatheter embolization using coils or vascular plugs (Amplatzer). Recanalization or persistent flow around a plug (endo-leak equivalent) can occur over time due to accessory side-feeders or incomplete occlusion, requiring further embolization.
